American Cruise Lines will add five ships to its growing fleet in 2024 -- two Coastal Cats and three Modern-series river ships.
The ships are under construction at the company's Chesapeake Shipbuilding yard in Salisbury, Maryland.
The Coastal Cats, catamaran vessels that sail on both inland and coastal waterways, will be called American Liberty and American Legend. The 100-passenger ships will be the third and fourth Coastal Cats. American Cruise Line's long-term plan is to build 12 of them.
The American Eagle debuted in 2023 as American Cruise Lines' first Coastal Cat.
The American Liberty and American Legend will sail U.S. East Coast itineraries beginning in August and November 2024, respectively.
The Modern ships under construction will sail Mississippi and Columbia-Snake itineraries. Names for these ships haven't been revealed.
The additional five ships coming in 2024 follow the introduction of three new ships to its fleet in 2023.
