The drinks are on us

Our editors sip everything from tea to tiki cocktails in a variety of settings around the world as we present our first culinary issue dedicated to beverages.

Everyone needs to eat. But with the exception of water, the same can’t be said of having to drink.

And yet, people love their beverages: hot, cold, bubbly, flat, alcoholic and not, mixed or straight. Those who identify with the “beverage goblin” song popularized on TikTok even gather three different drinks at once — “one to hydrate, one to energize and one just for fun” — for ultimate productivity.

In that spirit, Travel Weekly has for the first time dedicated its culinary issue to drinks. Rather than look at trends, our writers share ways to enjoy beverages unique to various cultures — and traveled near and far to find them: espresso in Tel Aviv; high tea on a train along the Danube; Mayan spirits on the Mexican Riviera; and tiki drinks at a legendary (and unmarked) San Francisco bar.

So grab a beverage — or three — and join us as we sip, swig and slurp our way around the world.
