Japan is easing Covid-19 restrictions for inbound travelers.

Fully vaccinated travelers will no longer have to test negative in order to enter Japan starting on Sept. 7, prime minister Fumio Kishida said in a press conference. Currently, inbound travelers must test negative for Covid within 72 hours of departure. Japan considers three vaccine doses to be fully vaccinated.

Japan is also considering raising the capacity limit on daily arrivals into the country. Currently, only 20,000 international arrivals are allowed into the country, including Japanese nationals. The cap was raised from 10,000 arrivals in June.

Foreign tourism to Japan is currently allowed but tourists must be part of packaged tours.
