Accommodations range from first-class beachfront properties and adequate game- and mountain-lodge facilities to extremely basic local hotels in smaller towns. The game lodges are not as well developed as those in Kenya or South Africa, though standards have increased greatly in recent years. There are excellent lodges at Liwonde and Nyika national parks, and Lengwe and Vwaza Marsh wildlife reserves. We suggest staying in as deluxe a property as possible to minimize inconveniences.
