Melia Hotels International has unveiled a flurry of Mexico expansion plans, including a second outpost of its Zel brand slated for Sayulita.
Melia teamed up with tennis phenom Rafael Nadal to launch Zel late last year. The brand planted its first flag in the Spanish island of Mallorca earlier this summer.
On track to open in 2025, the Zel Sayulita will be a beachfront newbuild project spanning 145 rooms.

Also in the pipeline are two ME by Melia hotels, with one set to open in San Miguel de Allende and the other in Sayulita.
The ME Sayulita, which will have 125 rooms and villas, is expected to debut by the end of this year. The hotel will offer three restaurants, a pool, a gym, a spa, a beach club and a rooftop bar and pool venue.
The San Miguel de Allende sister hotel will house 140 rooms and is on track to open in 2025, comprising amenities like a spa, a gym, a rooftop bar and several dining concepts.
The new ME by Melia properties will join the brand's existing ME Cabo and soon-to-open ME Guadalajara in Mexico.
In a statement, Melia said it expects to double its presence in Mexico, from seven to 14 hotels, over the next two years.
