About Portugal
Accommodations range from deluxe resort-type properties to bed-and-breakfasts, castles, estalagens (inns), campgrounds, local hotels, quintas (manor homes) and pousadas (government-owned properties that range from castles to monasteries to manor houses in small villages—they're generally moderately priced and usually include breakfast). Properties are usually well-run and very clean. If at all possible, spend at least one night in a pousada.
