An Iconic Logo Captures Spain’s Spirit
Four decades ago, the Director General of the Spanish Tourist Board, TURESPAÑA, asked one of the most important painters of the 20th century, Joan Miró, to create a logo to represent the country.
The artist drew inspiration from two previous works to create an abstract logo that was a world first: The Sun of Miro(Miró’s sun). Since then, it has been used in all TURESPAÑA campaigns and has become a representative and recognizable image of the country. Many things have changed since the logo’s design, but the infectious Spanish way of life has not.
The work represents the values of Spain and all that it has to offer: its hospitality, climate, gastronomy and culture. And thanks to all the campaigns that have been inspired by this logo, Spain is now one of the four most visited countries in the world. It’s a country that, year after year, welcomes millions of tourists to its beaches, cities and mountains.

Centuries of mixed cultures have left their fascinating mark on Spain, making it home to some of the most amazing artistic heritages in the world. When you visit, you will be enchanted by the stories behind every work of art and remember them forever.

Get In Touch with Nature
The way the word Spain is written in its logo reflects the country's diversity, while the color palette represents the flag and its values: yellow for the light and joy of the sun, red for passion and green for nature.
Surprising, diverse and full of contrasts, Spanish nature has a wonderful effect on everyone. The country's breathtaking natural landscapes will make you breathe in deeply, forgetting your worries, allowing you to live in the moment. Spain’s geography provides an extensive variety of landscapes: mountains, volcanoes, wetlands, forests, rivers, valleys, cliffs and lakes.
There are so many different environments in Spain to make you feel brand new. The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, the Teide National Park and the Pyrenees, are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the cultural landscape category. You have to see it to believe it.
