Virgin Voyages unveiled a festival stage of rotating performances and a series of new parties and live music acts that will appear on the Resilient Lady, a ship that will enter service in Athens in May.
The Resilient Lady, Virgin's third ship, will host five new shows ranging from theatrical storytelling to interactive game shows.
• Persephone is a retelling of the Greek myth featuring a rock 'n' roll underworld with lavish costumes and drama. The original concept comes from House of Yes. The show is produced by Kaleidoscope Immersive.
• Lola's Library is described as a cocktail party and immersive cabaret. The show is an after-hours literary affair led by Lola, her nerdy assistant and the bossy maid who explore an eclectic book collection of a mysterious author. The show weaves together song, dance, acrobatics and comedy and is presented in three chapters, enabling guests to stay all night or pop in for a chapter.
• The Supper Club Series was created and produced by Randy Weiner of "Sleep No More." The show is part cabaret, part dining experience and part theater spectacle telling the story of doomed love -- with the help of acrobatics.
• Mind Mangler, created by U.K. comedy company Mischief, features a two-man duo fresh from a disappointing two-night run at a motel conference center attempting to read the minds of Virgin Voyages guests.
• Miss Behave is a game show with audience participation, including shouting, screaming and singing. This show is currently running on the Valiant Lady.
Fleetwide, the line will offer Festival Stage Acts with a series of rotating, comedy-driven performances that change every two to four weeks. These shows will feature mentalists, magicians, a cappella groups and comedians. These acts are already running on the Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady and will be rolled out on the Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady after their maiden voyages in May and December, respectively.
Virgin Voyages will also introduce two new soirees across the fleet, including an '80s bash and a confetti-filled celebration called "We Fancy," complete with royal accents. That is in addition to Scarlet Night, a ship-wide red-themed event featuring an enormous inflatable octopus that takes over the top deck for a dance party.
Virgin is also bringing back two past shows: "Duel Reality," an acrobatic adaption of Romeo and Juliet, and an untitled music video-style dance show. The line said both shows are back by popular demand for an extended run on Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady. The line's show, "Never Sleep Alone," has ended for the performance season, according to the line.
