Leaning into its Love Boat roots, Princess Cruises will introduce a love-themed restaurant and lounge on the Sun Princess, a ship that debuts in February.
In a partnership with Miami artist Romero Britto, Princess will create the Love by Britto restaurant. Princess described the venue as an artistic-inspired dining experience celebrating the essence of love.
Britto's pop and abstract work, which uses bright colors, cartoonish styles and mixed media, has been in museums and galleries worldwide countries, including Soumaya Museum in Mexico City.
Diners will pay $149 per person for a seven-course prix fixe menu that includes food thought to be aphrodisiacs, such as oysters, figs, asparagus, pomegranate, watermelon and, of course, chocolate. Princess said that chocolate fondue will always be on the dessert menu.
The dining experience at Love by Britto, located on Deck 17 at the aft, will showcase Britto's designs using vivid colors, bold patterns and "heartfelt emotions," helping the restaurant leave "a lasting impression," according to Princess.
Rudi Sodamin, Princess' head of culinary arts, will curate the menu, which will feature a watermelon and vodka cocktail; starters such as oysters with champagne pearls and grilled figs with prosciutto and Roquefort; followed by asparagus soup.
Also on the menu are salad options that feature quail eggs, pomegranate and avocado. Seafood and fish options will be lobster thermidor with clams and wild rice, and honey-basted wild salmon. Meats include wagyu chateaubriand Rossini and roast quail farcie with truffles.
Champagne-flavored sorbet with rose petals will be served to cleanse the palate.
In addition to chocolate fondue, vanilla and chocolate soufflés will be on the menu.
"Love by Britto" is one of several new restaurants planned for the Sun Princess, the line's first Sphere-class ship. The Sun's inaugural cruise is a 10-day Barcelona-to-Rome voyage departing Feb. 8.
